How much do the activities and excursions cost?

Some of these are free and others have a very low cost. We always try to set the lowest price possible so that all students can enjoy all the activities and excursions.

What kind of activities does Taronja organize?

The school proposes 3 types of activities: The FIXED didactic activities in which we discover the Spanish culture and continue learning Spanish in a relaxed and fun atmosphere, such as: the famous cooking classes of Chef Nando, the welcome paella, culture classes, walk and learn... VARIABLE activities ensure that your experience in Valencia is an unforgettable one. Beach parties, salsa classes, music concerts, visits to exhibitions and many more things you will remember for the rest of your life. These activities change every week. Weekend excursions allow you to discover the wonders of the Valencia countryside. Some examples are visits to nearby towns and cities, hiking in the mountains, visits to beautiful beaches, visits to typical village festivals...

Does Taronja organize activities and/or excursions?

Yes, Taronja is famous for being one of the happiest and most fun schools in the world (attention, we said the world, not just Spain!). We believe that it is important for students to get to know each other also outside of the Spanish courses, and that is why we organize many activities and excursions of all kinds. Fun is guaranteed!

Are there any rules of behavior in the classes?

Yes, there are some basic rules of behaviour in the classes, such as not eating in class, not being late, not chewing gum... We will send you more detailed information about this by email before your arrival. Anyway, as we do not have teenagers, the study environment is always great as all students are highly motivated.

What is the minimum age of students at Taronja?

The minimum age to take an individual course in Taronja is 18 years old. Unlike most Spanish schools, which accept minors, at Taronja we do not like to put adults and teenagers together. This is a policy we have been using for over 12 years and it works perfectly!

Do you have any online courses to continue studying from my country?

Of course we do! Don't you know TARONJA ONLINE? We have a lot of courses and activities with different schedules and durations so you can continue studying Spanish from anywhere in the world. We have been teaching online for a long time and they are very successful!

Do you have any extra materials so you can continue studying after class?

Yes, Taronja School has a virtual classroom called Schoology where you can find information about timetables, cultural activities and, of course, exercises, materials and extra teaching resources to study and practice Spanish after class. You can easily access Schoology from your computer, mobile, iPad, tablet... On the first day of class your teacher will help you create your account and give you access codes.

Do you use English as a bridge language to teach Spanish?

Nooo! Are you crazy? English is forbidden! Our expert teachers and our great teaching system do not need any other language to teach you to speak Spanish. Even for the most elementary levels we have adapted teaching techniques so that you can learn Spanish in an easy and fun way without the help of anything else.

Do you monitor my Spanish course and my progress?

Yes, our teachers are perfectly coordinated with each other, but, in addition, they follow several weekly guidelines to correctly follow the course and the level of each student.

Do I need to buy a book for my Sapnish course?

Normally we do not use a book in the classes except for levels B2 and C1. In these higher levels you can buy the book if you want, otherwise we will make the photocopies you need for each lesson.

Are the materials included?

At Taronja all materials used in class are included in the price, so you don't need to bring anything other than your notebook and pencil, computer or tablet.

Will I always have the same teacher?

No! In this respect Taronja is different too. Every week you have 2 different teachers (sometimes even 3). We do this on purpose because each teacher has a different style, a different accent and this method is very good and enriching for your learning. Obviously, all the teachers follow the same weekly program for each group, adapt the materials and are coordinated among themselves.

What are the course schedules? Are they in the morning, in the afternoon?

Taronja School has an exclusive ZIG-ZAG timetable system, which means that some groups have classes on Monday/Wednesday/Friday mornings and Tuesday/Thursday afternoons, while the rest of the groups have the opposite. Please note that for us this Zigzag system is very complicated to organize and that it would be much easier to do two shifts: one in the morning and one in the afternoon. But, after many years of testing, we have realized that this system is the best since all students can enjoy 2 free mornings and 3 free afternoons every week, and vice versa. This way, everyone is happy and the course is more comfortable. Very few schools do this!

If I don't like the level I'm in, can I change groups?

Of course you can! The most important thing in Taronja is that you are happy. If you are not happy in the group we have put you in, you can talk to the Head Teachers. They will advise you correctly and change your level if that's what you need.

How does Taronja know what my level of Spanish is?

In order to know your level of Spanish and to be able to put you in the right group you will have to do a small level test before starting your course. At most Spanish language schools this test is done on your first day of your course. However, at Taronja we don't want you to miss a minute of your lessons, so we will give you instructions on how to do the level test from your home, before you arrive to Valencia.

What will my first day of school be like?

When you arrive, come to the reception to say hello and we will take you to the welcome meeting for new students. You don't need to take a level test, because you will have done this before. After your first day of class, if you have any problems with your accommodation, your classes, etc., don't hesitate to come to the reception to ask. Any member of Taronja will attend you and we will solve your problems in the fastest and most efficient way, don't worry. You are here to learn Spanish and have a VERY GOOD time, we will do everything necessary for this.

Valencia è una città sicura?

Valencia è una città molto sicura e tranquilla. Si può camminare per strada a qualsiasi ora del giorno e della notte. Non ci sono mai rapine violente, tuttavia, essendo una città abbastanza grande con molti turisti, bisogna stare alla ricerca di ladri e borseggiatori.

Quali sono i numeri di emergenza?

I numeri più importanti che potete memorizzare sul vostro cellulare sono: polizia (092), ambulanza (112) e vigili del fuoco (080).

Devo acquistare una carta SIM per il mio cellulare?

Soprattutto se si proviene da un paese che non fa parte dell'Unione Europea, si consiglia di prendere una carta SIM spagnola in uno dei tanti negozi di telefonia che si trovano vicino a Taronja. Fare ciò è facile, economico e garantisce sempre l'accesso a internet e molti minuti di chiamata.

Quali sono gli orari dei negozi, delle banche, dei supermercati e dell'ufficio postale?

I negozi e i supermercati più grandi sono aperti dal lunedì al sabato dalle 9:00 alle 20:00 e alcuni sono aperti anche la domenica. I negozi più piccoli sono aperti dal lunedì al venerdì e di solito fanno una pausa per la siesta dalle 14:00h alle 17:00 ore (alcuni sono aperti anche il sabato e la domenica). Le banche sono aperte dal lunedì al venerdì dalle 8:00 alle 14:00, ma ci sono molti bancomat 24 ore su 24, 7 giorni su 7. L'ufficio postale è aperto dal lunedì al venerdì dalle 8:30 alle 20:30 e il sabato dalle 9:30 alle 13:00.

Si può bere alcolici per strada (fare un botellón)?

Anche se è una pratica illegale, molti giovani spagnoli si riuniscono in zone dove i vicini non sono troppo disturbati vicino alle discoteche. È importante non urlare troppo e raccogliere tutta la spazzatura prima di andare.

Posso fare una festa a casa?

Non è normale fare feste a casa. Si può cenare con gli amici fino alle 23 e poi uscire nei pub e nelle discoteche. Se si organizza una festa rumorosa in ritardo, è probabile che i vicini chiamino la polizia. A noi spagnoli piace uscire e spostarci da un posto all'altro per incontrare molte persone e scoprire nuovi posti.

Come funziona la vita notturna?

A Valencia la vita notturna è molto divertente e offre molte opzioni. Una classica serata fuori inizia con qualche drink in una delle tante terrazze della strada. Alle 00:30 ore la gente di solito va nei pub (che in Spagna sono come piccole discoteche) e dalle 02:00 ore di solito va nelle discoteche più grandi. A Valencia c'è una festa per ogni gusto.

Quanto costa mangiare a Valencia?

Abbiamo buone notizie per voi! Valencia ha una gastronomia squisita con un eccellente rapporto qualità-prezzo. Una bella cena a base di tapas vale circa 20 euro, mentre la famosa paella valenciana vale tra i 12 e i 16 euro a persona. In generale, si può mangiare molto bene e a prezzi più bassi rispetto alle grandi città di Madrid e Barcellona.

Che lingua si parla a Valencia?

La città di Valencia è di lingua spagnola, il che significa che tutti parlano spagnolo. C'è anche la lingua valenciana che si parla in alcuni villaggi della regione. Fortunatamente per voi, l'accento dello spagnolo parlato a Valencia è molto chiaro e neutro.

A che ora si mangia a Valencia/Spagna?

Gli spagnoli sono famosi per mangiare tardi. Vi consigliamo, se volete che tutto scorra liscio nella vita e nella cultura spagnola, di seguire gli orari dei pasti locali. Il pranzo viene solitamente servito tra le 14:00h e le 15:00h, mentre la cena viene servita tra le 21:00h e le 22:30h. Inoltre, Valencia è ben nota per i suoi gustosi almuerzos tra le 10:30 e le 11:00, qualcosa che non può mancare.

Come cambia la città tra l'estate e l'inverno?

Valencia è come due città in una. per comprare, la sera per andare nei bar, nei ristoranti e nelle discoteche. Poi il caldo arriva verso maggio e il movimento si sposta nella zona della spiaggia per godersi il mare e dove si aprono altri club, ristoranti, bar, ecc. In ogni caso, Valencia è una città molto attiva con molta atmosfera nelle strade e nelle piazze durante tutto l'anno.

Com'è il tempo a Valencia?

Valencia ha un clima mediterraneo piacevole tutto l'anno. Gli inverni sono miti e le estati calde. Il sole è una garanzia e infatti si ritiene che in media ci siano 300 giorni di sole all'anno. In generale, il tempo a Valencia è difficile da migliorare.

Dove si trova Taronja?

Taronja è nel cuore di Valencia, in pieno centro città. Attrazioni turistiche, ristoranti, negozi, banche, farmacie e molto altro ancora sono proprio intorno alla scuola. La spiaggia dista circa 5 km dal centro, ma ci si può arrivare molto velocemente grazie ai vari tipi di trasporto pubblico (in bicicletta per esempio ci vogliono 20 minuti).

Valencia è una grande città? Come posso muovermi a Valencia?

Con i suoi 800 mila abitanti, Valencia è una città di dimensioni perfette, che offre tutti i tipi di servizi e di intrattenimento raggiungibili in brevissimo tempo. In centro si può camminare ovunque senza problemi. La città dispone di un servizio di trasporto pubblico molto vario e interessante: metropolitana, autobus, taxi e il servizio condiviso di biciclette e scooter permettono di raggiungere ogni angolo della città rapidamente e ad un prezzo molto buono. Muoversi in bicicletta è molto comodo e veloce. Se preferite spostarvi in autobus o in metropolitana, vi consigliamo di procurarvi un qualche tipo di voucher per renderlo più economico.

Come si arriva dall'aeroporto al centro di Valencia?

Un modo molto comodo è quello di prendere la metropolitana. Dall'aeroporto al centro ci vogliono solo 20 minuti circa, è economico e vi lascia nel centro di Valencia, a 2 minuti a piedi dalla nostra fantastica scuola di Taronja. Potete anche prendere un taxi, che in circa 20 minuti vi lascia alla porta di casa (Taronja ha anche un proprio servizio di pick-up).

Come si arriva a Valencia?

Dall'estero ci sono diverse compagnie aeree a basso costo per Valencia. Si può anche volare a Madrid, Barcellona e Alicante e da queste città ci sono treni diretti o autobus per Valencia.

Are there on-site lessons at the school?

Yes, we are teaching face-to-face lessons for groups since July 2020, with all the security measures against Covid and without any problems.

Are there students attending TARONJA school now?

Yes. Throughout the year we have had an average of 25/30 students per week. We are expecting an average of 40-50 students during the spring months and for summer we will most likely reach 75 students per week (which is the maximum number of students set by the government on our school due to security measures).

Esiste una tessera studenti?

Il primo giorno riceverete una tessera dello studente. Si consiglia di portare con sé questa tessera dello studente a Valencia come documento d'identità e di lasciare il passaporto a casa per non perderlo. Inoltre, con questa tessera è possibile ottenere alcuni sconti in negozi, musei, ristoranti...

Will there be students at your school this summer?

Yes, we have already started receiving quite a few bookings for this summer. Most likely, we will reach 75 students on average per week (which is the maximum limit imposed by the government on our school due to security measures). We are sure it is going to be a wonderful summer with a great atmosphere in the school.

Are there socio-cultural activities at the school?

Yes of course! Taronja continues to be the most fun Spanish school on the planet, even in the gloomy days of Covid. Obviously, we adapt our activities to the government and health institutions measures. In any case, we are still having so much fun! Most of the activities we plan now are outdoors. Luckily, this is possible in Valencia all year long!

Can I cancel my course?

Yes. We are aware that the situation due to Covid is very unstable and changing. Therefore, you will be able to cancel your course until the last moment. You will not find any problems in terms of cancellations and refunds with Taronja.

Is the school a safe place against Covid?

Yes. Since July 2020 we have been following the security protocols imposed by FEDELE CV with great success and without further problems. Lessons are taught normally following safety measures such as: FPP2 mask at all times, reduced capacity, disinfection of hands and shoes, etc.

Is Valencia a safe city from Covid?

Yes! At the moment (March 2021), it is one of the cities with the least incidence of Covid in Spain and in Europe.

This was a very good experience. It is true what people say about this place, it is more than just a Language school, it is a full immersion trip into Spanish culture.
I very much enjoyed my time here and met some proper tidy folks. my only problem was that i couldn't spend a 2nd week here due to timings. Because of this, i feel i missed out on a lot of the extra activities due to the zig zag schedule and not being present for the switch-round in the 2nd week.
All in all though this was excellent and well worth the money. a 2nd trip is definitely on the cards for 2020 for at least 2-3 weeks. Tengo que volver a Valencia pronto!!! leer menos

Bei Anmeldung musste ein Einstufungstest (schriftlich und mündlich per Handy-Video oder Telefonat) ausgefüllt werden. Am ersten Tag gab es ein erstes Treffen, bei dem die Kurseinteilung erfolgte und die Organisation der Schule erklärte wurde. Unterricht war vormittags (9-12.45 Uhr) und nachmittags (14.30-18.15 Uhr) im täglichen Wechsel, dazu Konversation etwa von 13.30-14.30 Uhr (nur in der ersten Woche inklusive). Gruppengröße offiziell bis 10 Personen, meist waren aber nur 5-6 anwesend. Zusammensetzung international, Alter von 18 bis Ü70, wobei die Jüngeren meist über mehrere Monate bleiben. Ich war im Fortgeschrittenen-Kurs (B2) und habe viel gelernt, insbesondere meine Unsicherheit beim Sprechen konnte ich überwinden. Die Stimmung war ausgezeichnet, wir haben viel gelacht, über alle möglichen Themen geredet und lernten auch viele Wörter der Umgangssprache.
Jeden Abend fanden verschiedene Aktivitäten statt, bei denen man sich mit anderen Studenten und den Lehrern austauschen konnte (ebenfalls fast ausschließlich auf Spanisch). Auch am Wochenende wurden Ausflüge angeboten. Insgesamt sehr empfehlenswert! leer menos
