Spanish Subjunctive Present: wishes
To express wishes in Spanish, we use the subjunctive present. Want to know how to use it?
The present subjunctive is one of the most difficult verb forms for students of Spanish. Not because it is a very complicated form or has many irregular verbs, but because its use can sometimes be quite confusing. But, there is one of these uses that you will never forget, and that is to express wishes:
Quiero que + PRESENTE DE SUBJUNTIVO
Deseo que + PRESENTE DE SUBJUNTIVO
Espero que + PRESENTE DE SUBJUNTIVO
Ojalá (que) + PRESENTE DE SUBJUNTIVO
For example:
- Quiero que vengas a mi fiesta de cumpleaños.
- Espero que no llueva esta tarde, así podremos salir de compras.
